THE HERITAGE OF THE PAST
In 1793 the young Captain Horatio Nelson, after 5 years languishing on shore, was appointed to the 64-gun line-of-battleship Agamemnon, which had been built at the Bucklers Hard yard some 12 years before.
He was delighted with her, "She sails well and handles excellently", he wrote to his wife Fanny, before setting sail for the Mediterranean to carve out possibly the most glorious career in the history of naval warfare.
In the ensuing two centuries, the Yard has satisfied many another customer, establishing a record of meticulous craftsmanship and dedicated professionalism that we at Bucklers Hard Boat Builders, are proud to continue.
ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY
But although the yard's order hooks may read like pages from history, we have no intention of resting on past glories.
To the traditional, age-old boatbuilder's skills of hand and eye, we add the very best that new technology can offer. (But then, even old Agamemnon was a state-of-art craft in her time!) Today, we can offer owners the widest choice of services, from the construction of brand-new craft such as a luxury Nelson motor cruiser ...or superb sailing vessels, or whatever takes your fancy ...to custom interior fitting-out or refurbishment, repair or maintenance, or off season laying-up.
