Clare of Beaulieu 

The recent restoration of Clare of Beaulieu makes an interesting change from modern GRP production boats. Berthed at the far end of the marina and looking rather forlorn, she was spotted by the wife of a customer who was buying a Bucklers Hard built Nelson 29 from us in 2019. She enquired about Clare and whether she might be available to purchase. Her owner was approached but was not open to the idea of selling. But she continued to enquire and finally, some two years later, Clare's owner agreed to sell. This photo shows her in her somewhat neglected pre-sale state.

Clare is 27 foot long, teak-hulled and powered by a commercial " Shire " variant of a Yanmar diesel engine. She was built by the famous Clare Lallow yard in 1970 for the then harbour master of Cowes. In the late 1970s she was acquired by the Beaulieu Estate and for many years was the harbour master's launch here on the Beaulieu River.
